How to calculate your Tesla's running costs
The cost to run a Tesla per mile (or kilometre) depends on two things: how efficiently the car is driven, and the price you pay for electricity. Typical Tesla energy consumption ranges from around 240 Wh/mile for a Model 3 RWD to over 380 Wh/mile for a Cyberbeast driven hard.
Home charging is almost always the cheapest option — in the UK, a standard tariff costs roughly 24–30p/kWh, putting the cost per mile around 6–9p. Supercharging typically costs 30–45p/kWh in the UK, or 25–35¢ in the US.
To get an accurate consumption figure, use the Energy app on your Tesla touchscreen and read the "Average" consumption over the last 30 miles or 50 km — this reflects your real-world driving rather than Tesla's rated figures.
